iBee: Smart Beehive Monitoring
A beehive monitoring platform: every hive reports weight, brood temperature and entrance traffic, and beekeepers see problems before opening a box.

- Client
- AGRI 4.0
- Role
- Full-stack developer
- Period
- Oct 2021 to Dec 2021
- Status
- Live demo
18
hives across 4 apiaries in the demo
3
signals per hive: weight, temperature, traffic
9
alert rules checked on every reading
Live
updates streamed to the browser
The challenge
Inspecting a hive means opening it, which disturbs the colony and leaves no continuous record of its health or of the honey flow.
What I built
Hive sensors post readings to a device API. The server stores them, checks alert rules (temperature, humidity, sudden weight loss) and streams updates to the browser. Beekeepers get a map of apiaries, a table of hives, analytics on honey flow and brood temperature, and a control page with a data simulator for demos.
The outcome
A complete working system: sensor ingestion, rules, live updates and reporting, demonstrated on simulated data from 18 hives.
Key features
- Map of apiaries with hive status
- Per-hive weight, temperature and traffic over time
- Alert rules with open and resolved history
- Analytics: honey flow, colony weight, brood temperature swing
- Device API and built-in simulator
